Space Science Experiment – Fizzy Rocket
This is how you make a Fizzy Rocket!
This is a science experiment from my book Stay Curious and Keep Exploring and is great for kids ages 5-12.
Materials
Book:
Kids safety glasses (ANSI certified):
Adult safety glasses (ANSI certified):
Film canister (pack of 12):
Alka seltzer tablet:
You will also need: water
Instructions
(1) Put on your safety glasses
(2) Fill your film canister about 1/3 of the way up with water
(3) Place 1 alka seltzer tablet inside
(4) Firmly put on the lid of the film canister and flip it over! Your film canister will pop directly upward within 3-20 seconds. The timing depends mostly on the temperature of water that you used.
Safety
Always wear safety glasses when conducting this experiment. Never stand directly over the film canister. If it takes too long to pop, carefully hold it with one hand, pointing it away from your face (and others’) and pop off the lid to relieve the pressure.
